Stop Firefox Searching For Local Domain

1: Start 
     Firefox

2: In address bar go to 
     about:config

3: Accept security warning and search for
     browser.fixup.domainsuffixwhitelist.ballard
   replacing 'ballard' with your local domain name.

4: Select
     Boolean
   from the three options, then select the plus sign on the right.

5: Now local domains can be entered without manually adding 'http://' 
   to the address.
